Parents/Guardians and Swimmers

 

Normal Operating Plan (NOP)

 

St. Andrew’s School Swimming Pool

Entry by double glazed pool door only by ALC staff.

Overshoe covers must be worn or remove shoes and bare feet.

Change in the poolside cubicles by the children themselves if possible.

Toilets are located in the shower rooms which can be accessed via the poolside shower door and from the corridor.  Please be aware of the slippery floor surface and the steps leading to the shower rooms.

Please wear swimming hats, blow your nose, go to the toilet and shower before and after swimming.

 

 

University of Brighton Swimming Pool

Entry via main entrance and then via changing rooms.

Change in appropriate gender changing rooms

Toilets are located in the changing rooms

Please wear swimming hats, blow your nose, go to the toilet and shower before and after swimming.

Parent go upstairs to the viewing gallery (please be aware of the slippery surface of the corridor leading to the viewing gallery)

 

Bourne Hall Hydro Pool

Entry via 18 Bourne Street. Toilets are straight ahead.

Turn right and enter into the pool area. Take off  shoes and place them onto shoe holder or use overshoe plastic covers.

Change in unisex changing facilities. Please wear swimming hats, blow your nose, go to the toilet and shower before and after swimming.

EXTRA CAUTION FOR THE LADDER ENTRY. DO NOT RUSH! No Diving !!!

 

General Poolside Rules for all swimming pools

No eating or drinking on poolside, except for water which is allowed for training and/or heat exhaustion/dehydration prevention.

No running.

No pushing.

No fighting.

No ducking.

No throwing.

No diving in the shallow end. No diving at all at Bourne Hall Hydro Pool.

No jumping or diving into the deep water unless supervised.

Use of the starting blocks only under supervision.

No sitting on lane ropes.

No underwater swimming unless asked and supervised.

Swimming hats are compulsory and swimming goggles are strongly recommended to be used.

No loud talking by the parents.

No use of mobile phones, cameras and camcorders.

No videos, photographs allowed to be taken without seeing a prior consent.

One long whistle = Stop! All quiet! Listen!

Three whistles = Emergency.  Clear the pool!

 

Emergency Action Plan (EAP)

In case of an emergency situation such as fire, power failure, bomb threat, etc. three whistles will be blown and the pool has to be evacuated immediately.

The building has to be evacuated in a calm and reasonable manner.

Please do not run and follow the green “exit” signs.

Your fire officer is the pool branch leader who has the name sheets.

The swimmers, parents/guardians and teachers have to assemble in the designated area outside of the pool building.

In the event of any emergency or accident, three whistles will be blown and the pool has to be cleared immediately.

Emergency phones are situated on the wall at poolside (Ocklynge and Eastbourne College) and in the swimming pool office at St. Andrew’s School.

Emergency First Aid Kits are located on the poolside. They should only be used by a qualified member of staff.
